Sarah is primarily a self-taught artist.
Inspired by patterns in nature and movement, she likes to capture the essence of a subject rather than giving it a literal interpretation. Her work is more expressive and reactive then realistic. Her style changed dramatically due to an eye disease that caused double vision. She often painted while recuperating from several surgeries, unable to do much else. She started painting “close-up” views of plants around her garden, and changed her painting style to adapt to her changing vision. Some of her best work was done when she couldn’t see well! Previously a resident artist at Holliston Mill, she now has a home studio in Hopedale, Massachusetts, where she paints full time and offers private and semi-private lessons. She also teaches watercolors at the Broadmoor Wildlife Sanctuary in Natick, Massachusetts. The Franklin Art Association Hopedale Cultural Council |
